WMF Peru to Continue Work at Chankillo
WMF Peru signed a collaboration agreement with the Ministry of Culture of Peru and the Municipality of Casma to develop a conservation and management plan for the archaeological site of Chankillo, a fortified temple complex built over 2,300 years ago in the coastal desert of Peru. The site was on the 2010 World Monuments Watch.
The collaboration will also include the creation of the dossier for Chankillo's inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage site. This agreement highlights a significant step forward for the preservation and sustainable development of Chankillo as an important cultural resource for the Casma region.
