Valuing Modern Heritage in India
A Virtual Event
Join WMF India Executive Director, Amita Baig on August 22 at 7:30 pm India Standard Time (10 am Eastern Daylight Time), for a panel discussion on India’s underrepresented and largely unprotected early twentieth-century architectural heritage.
While significant, modern heritage in India is yet to be recognized for its true value or given statutory protection. WMF has repeatedly included India’s modern sites, such as the Delhi Hall of Nations (featured above) and Patel Stadium, on its World Monuments Watch.
Panelists will discuss the role of international organizations in the recognition of modern Indian heritage, explore the difficult questions of who owns and who values this heritage, and more.
