Twenty Years of the World Monuments Watch

For the past 20 years, the World Monuments Watch has brought attention to the conservation needs and opportunities of over 700 cultural heritage sites around the world. For many sites, the Watch program served as a catalyst for much-needed action, leading to improvements such as better protection, conservation efforts, sustainable tourism development, and community engagement. Twelve success stories are highlighted on the next pages, followed by 32 featured sites as examples of places that have benefited from inclusion on the Watch.
